Baltimore police arrest two 14-year-olds for armed carjacking

BALTIMORE, MD — Two 14-year-old males were arrested early Friday after an armed carjacking and subsequent foot pursuit in Baltimore’s Southeast District, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of East Fairmount Avenue at approximately 12:50 a.m. after a report of an armed carjacking. A 39-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman were approached by a group of about six individuals, some armed with guns, who demanded the victims’ car keys and fled in the stolen vehicle.

A description of the stolen vehicle was broadcast to officers, leading them to locate the car around 2:12 a.m. in the 1000 block of North Kenwood Avenue. Police said the suspects attempted to flee on foot but were apprehended shortly after. A loaded handgun was recovered at the scene.

The two 14-year-old suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Justice Center for processing. Authorities did not immediately release further information about the remaining individuals reportedly involved.

The incident remains under investigation.
