TRENTON, NJ – More than half a million New Jersey residents enrolled in health insurance through Get Covered New Jersey for 2025, setting a new record, Governor Phil Murphy and Department of Banking and Insurance Commissioner Justin Zimmerman announced.
The state’s health insurance marketplace saw 513,217 sign-ups during the open enrollment period from November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025. This marks a nearly 30% increase from the previous year and more than doubles enrollment since New Jersey took control of the marketplace in 2020.
“Nine in 10 people enrolling in a health plan through Get Covered New Jersey qualify for financial help,” Commissioner Zimmerman said, noting that 224,416 enrollees pay $10 or less per month for coverage. Of that group, 201,289 people receive coverage for $1 or less.
New Jersey’s transition from the federal marketplace in 2020 allowed for expanded enrollment periods, additional financial assistance, and increased plan options. This year, the state also capped out-of-pocket costs for insulin, EpiPens, and asthma inhalers to improve affordability.
While the open enrollment period has ended, residents with qualifying life events or incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level may still apply for coverage.
