Queens gang leader sentenced to 28 years to life for 2020 park murder

QUEENS, N.Y. — A gang leader convicted of orchestrating a deadly shooting in Rufus King Park was sentenced Monday to 28 years to life in prison, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced.

Chance Goode, 22, was found guilty of second-degree murder and multiple robbery-related charges for his role in the October 2020 killing of 22-year-old Numani Lambert. The fatal shooting stemmed from a botched marijuana deal.

“The defendant, a notorious gang leader, has now been held to full account for the attempted robbery-turned-murder he orchestrated inside Rufus King Park in 2020,” Katz said.

Justice Kenneth Holder sentenced Goode to 23 years to life for the murder conviction and a consecutive five years for criminal possession of a weapon, along with post-release supervision.

According to trial testimony, Lambert and two friends met with a supposed buyer, who used the name “Pimmy Don” on Facebook, to sell two ounces of marijuana. When it became clear the buyers lacked the money, a dispute broke out. As Lambert and his friends attempted to leave, one of the men pulled a gun, demanded the marijuana, and shot Lambert in the head.

Lambert died three days later at a nearby hospital.

Investigators identified “Pimmy Don” as Goode, the leader of the Never Forget Loyalty gang. He arranged the meeting, ordered two gang members to rob Lambert, and supplied the 9 mm handgun used in the killing. The firearm was later recovered in Goode’s home during a court-authorized search.

Torren King, the gunman, pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in 2023 and was sentenced to 19 years in prison. Cases against other co-defendants remain ongoing.
