HOLMDEL, N.J. — Two Holmdel Township police officers helped deliver a baby girl early Monday morning after responding to a call about a woman in labor.
At approximately 6:10 a.m., Ptl. Brendon Bernard arrived at the residence within a minute of the call, with Ptl. Rich Enzerillo arriving shortly after. With no medical personnel on scene and the birth imminent, the officers assisted in delivering the baby at 6:16 a.m.
Holmdel First Aid transported both the mother and newborn to a local hospital. Authorities said both are doing well.
“The safe delivery of the baby is a testament to their professionalism, courage, and deep compassion for those they serve,” the Holmdel Township Police Department said in a statement.
Two officers turned an emergency into a life-changing moment, ensuring a newborn’s safe arrival before medics could reach the scene.
