Glen burnie woman wins $133k second-chance lottery prize

Glen Burnie, MD — A Glen Burnie woman is celebrating a life-changing lottery win after claiming a $133,542 MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion prize from the Maryland Lottery.

Jenelle Ballard, 58, was at work when she received the call on March 11 informing her she was the first rolling cash jackpot winner in the promotion. “I was so excited I couldn’t breathe. My boss came in and gave me a fist pump,” she said.

The long-time grocery store employee plans to use her winnings to pay off bills and visit her mother in Las Vegas.

The MONOPOLY Second-Chance Promotion, which launched on January 13, allows players to enter non-winning MONOPOLY scratch-offs into My Lottery Rewards for a chance to win a rolling cash jackpot or cash prizes. Two more jackpot winners will be drawn, with the next selection on May 6. Five $5,000 prizes will also be awarded each month through July 1, with the next entry deadline on April 7.

“This will help me a lot,” Ballard said, calling the prize a “life changer.”
