KIRTLAND, OH – A $5 scratch-off delivered a $150,000 shock for a Kirtland man after his Fun 5s ticket hit the game’s top prize, turning a small Ohio Lottery purchase into a six-figure payday.
The Ohio Lottery announced the win Friday.
The winning Fun 5s ticket was purchased at Giant Eagle #203, located at 12692 W. Geauga Plaza in Chesterland.
Fun 5s costs $5 and carries a $150,000 top prize.
After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 26.75%, the Kirtland winner will receive $109,875.
The Ohio Lottery did not identify the winner by name or provide details about what he intends to do with his winnings.
His victory did not wipe out the game’s top prizes entirely.
As of Thursday, one additional $150,000 top prize remained available in the Fun 5s game.
The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $35 billion to education since 1974.
