WASHINGTON, D.C. — A late-night attack on a Southeast D.C. sidewalk left one man fighting for his life as investigators search for a suspect caught on camera near the scene.
The shooting unfolded just before 10 p.m. last Monday in the 2600 block of Staton Road, where officers from the Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found an unconscious adult male on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders from DC Fire and EMS rushed the victim to a nearby hospital after officers used Tactical Emergency Casualty Care kits to stabilize him at the scene. The man’s injuries were described as life-threatening.
Video surveillance from the area captured images of the suspected gunman, which have since been released as the investigation intensifies. The suspect’s identity remains unknown, and law enforcement is urging anyone with information to come forward.
