BRONX, N.Y. — A 56-year-old man was hospitalized in critical but stable condition after being stabbed by an unidentified individual in the Soundview section of the Bronx late Thursday night, police said.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:26 p.m. in front of 1240 Morrison Avenue, where the victim was approached from behind and attacked with a sharp object.
Police said the assailant stabbed the man multiple times about the body before fleeing northbound on foot toward 172nd Street. No arrests have been made, and the attacker remains at large.
EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and the motive behind the attack remains under investigation.
Investigation ongoing as suspect remains at large
The NYPD has not provided a description of the suspect and is reviewing area surveillance footage for potential leads.
No weapon has been recovered, and officials have not confirmed whether the victim knew the attacker.
“The unidentified individual displayed a sharp object and stabbed the victim about the body,” police stated.
The assault took place in a residential area near several apartment buildings and public transit stops, drawing a significant emergency response.
As of Monday, the investigation remains active with no further updates released.
