Harbeson man arrested for burglary at Indian River Volunteer Fire Company

A Harbeson man is in custody after allegedly breaking into a Sussex County fire station and stealing property.

MILLSBORO, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested a 52-year-old Harbeson man in connection with a burglary at the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company that occurred overnight Wednesday.

Troopers began investigating the incident on June 4 after receiving a report of a break-in at the fire station located at 32628 Oak Orchard Road in Millsboro. According to investigators, an unknown white male entered the building through an unsecured door during the overnight hours.

Once inside, the suspect damaged an office door, stole unspecified property, and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

Through investigative efforts, troopers identified Eugene Marple as the suspect. He was located and arrested without incident on June 5.

Police did not disclose what items were stolen or the extent of the damage inside the fire station.

Suspect charged after overnight fire station break-in

Marple is facing burglary and related charges. Authorities have not released details about his arraignment or bond status.

The fire company continued operations while the investigation was underway. Police did not indicate whether surveillance footage played a role in identifying the suspect.

The case remains under investigation, and no additional suspects are being sought at this time.
