QUEENS, N.Y. — A 25-year-old woman and her 11-month-old daughter were pepper sprayed during a dispute aboard a southbound M train near the Court Square station on Friday morning, according to the NYPD.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 a.m. when an unidentified male approached the mother and child and became involved in a verbal altercation. Police said the man then pepper sprayed both victims in the face before fleeing the train in an unknown direction.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the woman and her baby to Mount Sinai Queens. Both were treated for substantial eye and facial irritation.
No additional injuries were reported, and the victims were listed in stable condition.
Suspect fled after pepper spray attack on subway
The suspect is described as a male with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, multicolored pants, and a black baseball cap.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to identify the individual. No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The NYPD has classified the case as an assault and is urging anyone with information to contact authorities.
