JOPPA, Md. — Harford County Sheriff’s deputies safely took a man into custody Saturday afternoon following a reported mental health crisis at a residence in the 500 block of Renee Drive.
Deputies from the Southern Precinct responded to the call at approximately 3:10 p.m., after receiving information that the man was experiencing a mental health emergency and that there were multiple weapons and other individuals inside the apartment.
The sheriff’s office deployed its Special Response Team and Crisis Negotiation Team to the scene. Authorities were able to establish contact with the man and resolved the situation without injury or further incident.
“Deputies were able to make contact with the male subject and peacefully bring him safely into custody without further incident,” the department said in a statement.
No arrests were made beyond the intervention, and no injuries were reported during the response.

Officials expressed appreciation to area residents for their cooperation and patience during the incident. The sheriff’s office emphasized the importance of community support in managing sensitive situations involving mental health.
