STAFFORD, Va. — A 49-year-old Stafford man was arrested Thursday night after intentionally crashing into another vehicle during a road rage incident in North Stafford, authorities said.
Deputies responded around 9:20 p.m. to reports of a crash near the intersection of Garrisonville Road and Stafford Market Place. Upon arrival, they determined the incident was not an accident.
According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, Jason Nance became angry when another vehicle attempted to merge into his lane. When that vehicle stopped in traffic, Nance accelerated and deliberately struck it, causing more than $1,000 in damage.
Nance was taken into custody at the scene and charged with assault and battery, as well as vandalism. He was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail and held on a $1,000 bond.
Crash caused by driver reaction, not traffic conditions
Investigators concluded that Nance’s actions were deliberate and not the result of poor road or weather conditions. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The sheriff’s office has not released additional details about the victim or whether the vehicles were towed from the scene.
Authorities said the case remains under review.
