CRANFORD, N.J. — Adam Sandler has started production on a new Netflix film in New Jersey, with his daughter Sunny Sandler cast in the lead role.

The movie, Don’t Say Good Luck, is filming in Cranford and will continue shooting in the area for the next two weeks. Sandler is producing the project through his Happy Madison production company.

The film follows 15-year-old Sophie Birenbaum, a high school student who is forced to confront her mother’s terminal cancer diagnosis just as she takes on the lead role in the school musical. The story centers on her efforts to balance personal grief with the demands of adolescence.

Filming in Cranford is expected to wrap in early August.

Sunny Sandler headlines a new coming-of-age drama now filming under her father’s direction in suburban New Jersey.
