Woman executed in broad daylight in Center City Philadelphia

Gunfire erupts in Center City leaving woman dead as police probe chaotic clash

Philadelphia, PA – Evening crowds in Center City watched in shock Friday when a confrontation outside a 7-Eleven ended with a woman fatally shot on the sidewalk.

The violence broke out just before 6 p.m. at 12th and Chestnut streets, one of the busiest intersections in the city. Authorities said the woman was taken to Jefferson Hospital, where she died roughly an hour and a half later. Her name has not been released.

Video of the shooting, now in police custody, shows a tense struggle between three people. A woman is seen trying to separate a man from another woman before the man points a gun toward the woman on the ground and fires. Bystanders can be heard screaming as the scene unfolds.

Police confirmed that one individual has been taken into custody but stopped short of saying who fired the fatal shot. Detectives are now working to piece together the chain of events, including whether one of the women may have originally been armed and whether the weapon was wrestled away during the scuffle.

The investigation remains active, and police have not announced charges.
