PHILADELPHIA, PA – A tense early-morning standoff unfolded on the 800 block of West Girard Avenue after a man barricaded himself inside a parking lot, police said.
The incident began at 1:27 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a person in crisis. By 2:07 a.m., the 26th District declared a barricade, establishing a staging area at 8th and Master Streets.
The individual, who was experiencing mental health issues, remained inside until the situation was resolved at 3:08 a.m. SWAT officers were notified and placed on standby, but no injuries were reported.
The identity of the man has not been released, and no charges have been announced.
