Remains found in Dansville identified as Rochester man missing since 2011

Dansville, NY – New York State Police confirmed that human remains discovered in Dansville in 2021 have been identified as Doh Soe, a Rochester man who disappeared more than a decade earlier.

Investigators said Soe, a 23-year-old immigrant from Burma, was reported missing on June 1, 2011, after failing to show up for work the previous day. His remains were located off State Route 36 in Dansville on Dec. 13, 2021.

Police have classified the case as a homicide and say the investigation remains active. Troopers are urging anyone with information about Soe’s disappearance or death to call their dedicated tip line at 607-225-5400. Tips may be provided anonymously.

A mystery that began with a missing person report in 2011 now stands as an unsolved homicide.
