Elyria man wins $50K on $2,000,000 Cashword scratch-off ticket

ELYRIA, OH — A lucky Elyria resident is celebrating a $50,000 payday after playing the Ohio Lottery’s $2,000,000 Cashword scratch-off game, the Ohio Lottery announced Friday.

The winning $30 ticket was purchased at Elyria Food Mart, located at 8703 West Ridge Road. After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 27.125%, the winner will receive $36,437.50.

$2,000,000 Cashword is one of the Ohio Lottery’s higher-tier scratch-off games, offering a top prize of $80,000 a year for 25 years. As of October 10, four top prizes remain unclaimed in the game.

Since its inception in 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education across the state. Scratch-offs like Cashword continue to be popular among players seeking large instant payouts.
