East Orange man arrested with rifle and shotgun after Route 3 road rage clash in Secaucus

SECAUCUS, NJ — A tense morning road rage encounter on Route 3 East turned into a weapons arrest after a man allegedly threatened another driver and was later found with multiple firearms and ammunition inside his car, police said.

Travon Gantt, 25, of East Orange, was taken into custody Monday morning after Secaucus Police Officer Justin Machno spotted his grey Nissan fleeing the scene of the incident. The arrest followed an earlier report that Gantt had brandished a firearm magazine and threatened to shoot another driver during a heated altercation on the highway.

Gantt was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and two counts of unlawful possession of a rifle or shotgun. He was booked into the Hudson County Jail following his arrest.
