Grace the silver Lab still waiting for a forever home as shelter nears capacity

JACKSON, NJ — Grace, a 5-year-old silver Lab mix, is still waiting at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility after a planned adoption fell through, leaving shelter volunteers scrambling to find her a permanent home or placement with a rescue.

Described as dog- and cat-friendly, spayed, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped, Grace has passed all of her behavior assessments and is ready for adoption. Shelter staff believe she may have some Weimaraner in her lineage, and while she’s playful and full of energy, she would do best in a home with older children due to her size and strength.

Grace was previously surrendered and has shown no resource guarding, a sign that she could integrate well into a new home with the right match. However, despite being adoption-ready, Grace remains in the shelter as the facility approaches capacity.

The shelter is now urgently appealing to approved 501(c)(3) rescues or qualified adopters to step forward. Volunteers say they are heartbroken over the delay in Grace’s journey to a safe, loving home.

Grace is currently available for adoption at the Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson. The shelter is open daily from 1 to 4 p.m.
