$3 million lottery win rocks quiet Pennsylvania town

$3 million scratch-off ticket sold at grocery store in Allegheny County

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, PA – One Pennsylvania Lottery player is waking up a multimillionaire after purchasing a $3,000,000 Golden Ticket scratch-off at a suburban Pittsburgh grocery store, the Lottery announced Monday.

The lucky ticket, worth a staggering $3 million, was sold at the Richland SHOP ‘n SAVE located at 5375 William Flynn Highway in Allegheny County. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the prize-winning ticket.

The $3,000,000 Golden Ticket is a $30 scratch-off game that features multiple top prizes. According to the Pennsylvania Lottery, tickets and winnings are distributed randomly, and neither retailers nor officials know where the top prizes will land until a player comes forward.

The identity of the winner has not yet been made public. Players are encouraged to immediately sign the back of any winning ticket and contact the Lottery to begin the claims process.

The Lottery reminds players that scratch-off prizes must be claimed within one year of the game’s official end-sale date, which is posted at palottery.com.

All prizes over $5,000 are subject to applicable federal and state withholding taxes.
