Jacksonville, FL – A Florida man faces murder charges after allegedly stabbing his co-worker on their first day at an Anheuser-Busch plant. Thirty-eight-year-old Jason Guthrie has been arrested for the death of twenty-two-year-old Antoine Autry, according to the Jacksonville County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred Thursday around 4:30 PM as both men worked at the brewery in the Oceanway area of Jacksonville. Witnesses reported hearing Autry scream before they saw Guthrie running away from him, prompting a call to law enforcement.
Responding officers located Autry with a stab wound to the chest. He was transported by the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A K-9 unit located Guthrie hiding in a building at the brewery during a search of the facility. The suspect was taken into custody and interviewed, although it remains unclear if his statements have provided useful information for the ongoing investigation.
At the time of his arrest, Guthrie was on probation for a prior conviction in 2020, when he allegedly stabbed another man outside of a liquor store.
The previous case included charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and Guthrie pleaded guilty to those charges last year. His arrest report indicated that he suffers from schizophrenia and PTSD.
