Mayor Rodrick says voting continues after police clear early morning bomb threat at Toms River polling station

Bomb threat disrupts Toms River polling site hours after polls open

Toms River, NJ – A bomb threat was reported early Tuesday morning at a Toms River polling site, prompting a swift law enforcement response that briefly disrupted voting just as polls were opening.

The threat was called in around 7 a.m. at the Cedar Grove polling location, causing a precautionary evacuation of the site. Police and K9 units from the Toms River Police Department and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department swept the building. The scene was cleared in approximately 20 minutes, and no explosives were found.

Voters were temporarily prevented from entering the polling location, but the site was reopened once law enforcement determined it was safe. Officials emphasized that the safety of voters and poll workers remains a top priority.

Mayor Dan Rodrick issued a statement confirming the incident and thanking both agencies for their rapid response. The investigation into the origin of the threat is ongoing, and authorities have not released details about a suspect or motive.

Despite the early morning disruption, voting has continued without further incident.
