Columbus man charged after stabbing victim found on Byron Avenue

Columbus, OH – A late-night stabbing on Byron Avenue led to a suspect arrest after officers discovered the injured victim and later identified a man approaching the scene.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Byron Avenue on November 2 at approximately 10:17 p.m. and located a person suffering from stab wounds; the assailant had fled before police arrived. Around 11:55 p.m. that same night, officers observed a 63-year-old man, later identified as Billy Armstrong, approaching the residence. Armstrong was identified as the suspect in the stabbing and charged with felonious assault.

Police reported the initial call for service, the discovery of the wounded victim, and the subsequent identification and charging of Armstrong in the hours that followed. Officers have not released additional details about the victim’s condition or the motive for the attack.

The Columbus Division of Police posted photos related to the incident on its social channels as part of the public information release. The case remains under investigation and charges against Armstrong are formalized in connection with the November 2 incident.
