BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ – A Brick Township man has been charged after police say he struck a 15-year-old on an electric bicycle and left the scene Saturday night.
William Donohoe, 43, was arrested and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash resulting in serious bodily injury and assault by auto.
The crash occurred just before 11 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Midstreams Road and Midstreams Place, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

Teen hospitalized after collision
Investigators say Donohoe was driving a Nissan Rogue north on Midstreams Place when he turned left onto Midstreams Road, colliding with the teen cyclist. Instead of stopping, he allegedly continued westbound, leaving the injured teen behind.
Responding officers from the Brick Township Police Department found the victim with serious injuries and began providing aid before he was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he remains in stable condition.
Suspect found near crash scene
As police assisted the victim, they spotted Donohoe walking toward the crash site from a distance. Investigators determined he was the driver involved in the collision.
Officers reported signs of intoxication and attempted to conduct field sobriety tests, which Donohoe failed. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
Blood test and detention pending
Authorities obtained a court-authorized warrant for a blood draw at Ocean University Medical Center. The test results are still pending.
Donohoe is currently lodged in the Ocean County Jail awaiting a detention hearing.
