The incident occurred on November 10 at the medium-security state prison located on Old River Road in Oneida County. The victim, identified as 55-year-old Officer Hadian, was pronounced dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Preliminary reports indicate that no other staff or inmates were injured during the incident, and no threat to facility security was identified. The weapon used has not been publicly detailed, and investigators have not released where inside the facility the shooting occurred.

The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision is working with state police to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. Officials have not provided information on the officer’s years of service or potential motive but confirmed it is being treated as an isolated incident.
