Suspect Sought After Groping Young Girl on Brooklyn J Train

BROOKLYN, NY – Police are investigating an incident on a northbound J train Sunday evening after a 16-year-old girl was subjected to unwanted physical contact and inappropriate remarks by an unidentified man.

The encounter occurred around 7:50 p.m. as the train approached the Marcy Avenue station.

According to investigators, the man began speaking with the teen before touching her inappropriately over her clothing.

He also leaned in close and made offensive statements toward her.

The victim left the train at the Myrtle Avenue and Broadway station, while the individual remained onboard and left in an unknown direction.

NYPD seeks help identifying suspect

No injuries were reported.

Police describe the suspect as a man with a medium complexion, last seen wearing a multicolored shirt, tan jacket, blue pants, black and white sneakers, and a green hat.

The NYPD is reviewing surveillance footage and asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains active under the NYPD Transit Bureau.
