Wilmington woman arrested after knife-wielding attempted robbery at Newark Dollar Tree

NEWARK, DE — A 60-year-old Wilmington woman is behind bars after authorities say she attempted to rob a Dollar Tree in Newark by putting a cashier in a headlock and threatening them with a knife.

The incident unfolded around 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, at the Dollar Tree located at 1307 Churchmans Road. Delaware State Police say Kimberly Trabbold entered the store, walked around briefly, and then approached the register, where she restrained the cashier and pressed a knife against their back while demanding money from the register.

Store employees quickly intervened, pulling Trabbold away and restraining her until troopers arrived. No injuries were reported.

Trabbold was taken into custody at the scene without further incident. She was transported to Troop 2, where she was charged with Attempted Robbery First Degree (Felony). She was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $25,000 cash bail.
