Lucky NY ticket earns huge lottery payday

Amawalk man wins $1,000 a week for life on New York Lottery scratch-off

Amawalk, NY – A Westchester County resident has secured a lifetime of payouts after winning a top prize in the New York Lottery’s Win $1,000 A Week For Life scratch-off game.

Kyle Kalotschke of Amawalk claimed the top prize from ticket #1624, purchased at Baldwin Place Valero at 55 Route 6 in Baldwin Place. Instead of a lump sum, Kalotschke opted to receive the annuitized “for life” payments. His first check totaled $33,852 after required tax withholdings. The game guarantees a minimum payout of $1 million.

Kalotschke’s win is among the few top-tier prizes awarded in the game so far. As of today, eight top prizes remain unclaimed.

The Win $1,000 A Week For Life scratch-off is part of a popular line of New York Lottery games offering long-term annuity payouts instead of single cash prizes. Winners receive weekly payments for the rest of their lives or the guaranteed minimum amount.

According to the New York Lottery, scratch-off sales generated over $4.3 billion in the 2024–2025 fiscal year. In that same period, Westchester County school districts received more than $136 million in Lottery Aid to Education funds.
