Arrest made in firearm offenses and outstanding warrants

Dorchester, MA – Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Keondre Barrett, 25, on firearm offenses and two outstanding warrants. Officers were conducting an investigation in the area of Mascot Street when they noticed a vehicle parking nearby.

The target of the investigation exited a building and entered the passenger seat of the vehicle. Officers followed the vehicle and observed it fail to stop at a stop sign before activating emergency lights and sirens.

Barrett was identified as the passenger and asked to exit the vehicle. As officers attempted to open the door, he closed it, but they managed to open it again and remove him. He resisted arrest and tensed his body as officers placed him in handcuffs. During a search, officers found a Glock 42 with ten rounds in the magazine.

Barrett was arrested and is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. He faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and resisting arrest.

Barrett also had outstanding warrants from Suffolk Superior Court for unarmed robbery and from Boston Municipal Court for unlawful possession of a firearm.
