Jackson Township announces, in its continued effort to make our roadways safer and to reduce traffic and unnecessary bottlenecks, a major intersection upgrade construction project will begin today at the intersection of South New Prospect Road and Louisiana Parkway.

The project will involve removing the two medians on Louisiana Parkway between South New Prospect and Illinois Avenue and creating two turn-only lanes for traffic heading toward South New Prospect.

The construction is part of a larger joint initiative between the township and Ocean County.

This upgrade will allow for smoother, safer traffic flow as people exit the neighborhood, turning the existing single lane into two turning lanes.

“We are listening to the residents all over the town when it comes to traffic safety,” said Council President Mordechai Burnstein. “This happens to be an area of high congestion throughout the day. We are tackling these problems one by one and bringing the residents’ suggestions to our traffic engineers and the police department’s traffic safety bureau to ensure we continue making our roads safer and more efficient.”

If residents wish to submit suggestions for traffic safety improvements in town, please email Council President Burnstein at mburnstein@jacksontwpnj.net.
