TOMS RIVER, N.J. – Ocean County Jail records show that Evin Steven Unruh remains in custody without bail following his arrest on November 19 on a series of charges including burglary, resisting arrest, and multiple counts of assault on law enforcement officers.
According to court filings, Unruh faces at least nine charges under the New Jersey criminal code, including possession of altered property, burglary, threats of violence, and aggravated assault on correctional officers.
Assault and resisting charges among top offenses
Records indicate Unruh is charged with three counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers under N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1B(5)(A), one count of throwing bodily fluids at Department of Corrections employees, and two counts of making violent threats. He is also charged with resisting arrest by physical force or violence.
Each offense carries varying degrees of severity, ranging from third- to fourth-degree crimes under state law. No bail has been set on any of the open cases, and no projected release date has been issued.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details about the incidents leading to Unruh’s arrest or whether the charges stem from a single event or multiple encounters.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is expected to review the charges before a grand jury hearing.
Unruh remains held at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River pending further court proceedings.
