Prostitution crackdown in West New York leads to four arrests

Four arrested in prostitution sting on Bergenline Avenue after community tips

West New York, NJ – Four individuals were arrested Friday in connection with a prostitution investigation following repeated community complaints about suspicious activity on the 5200 block of Bergenline Avenue, according to the West New York Police Department.

The arrests came after residents alerted police to ongoing behavior they believed was linked to prostitution and other illegal conduct in the area. Detectives with the department’s Anti-Crime Unit launched an investigation in response.

On November 21, officers made the following arrests:

  • Miriam Perez-Bailon, 36, of Queens, NY – charged with Prostitution (2C:34-1(b)(8))
  • Karen Correa, 32, of Newark – charged with Prostitution (2C:34-1(b)(8))
  • Noe Gigales, 48, of North Bergen – charged with Promoting Prostitution (2C:34-1(b)(2)) and Maintaining a Nuisance (2C:33-12(c))
  • Luis Ernesto Martinez-Cerritos, 53, of West New York – charged with Promoting Prostitution (2C:34-1(b)(2)) and Maintaining a Nuisance (2C:33-12(c))

All four were processed at the West New York Police Department and released on summonses pending a court appearance.
