GLEN BURNIE, Md. – The holiday season will kick off in Anne Arundel County with the annual Glen Burnie Town Center Tree Lighting this Wednesday evening, drawing families and neighbors together for a night of celebration and community spirit.
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Burnie Town Center Plaza, located at 101 Crain Highway North.
Organizers say the festivities will include a visit from Santa, live music, county exhibitors, and a holiday marketplace featuring local vendors.
Free ice skating and hot cocoa for attendees
Guests can lace up their skates for free ice skating between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., while enjoying complimentary hot cocoa and treats available throughout the plaza. The event is designed to be family-friendly, with attractions for children and adults alike.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks, the Northern Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, and several county agencies are partnering to host the celebration. Officials say the annual lighting has become a highlight of the county’s winter calendar, marking the start of the holiday season in downtown Glen Burnie.

Parking for the event is free in the Henry L. Hein Building Garage, located near the plaza. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot and enjoy pre-lighting activities.
