McAllen, TX – A Texas man has been charged with aggravated kidnapping following an incident involving threats against his family. Guadalupe Granados, 34, allegedly attacked his common-law wife using zip ties and duct tape while brandishing a handgun and a knife.
During the attack on December 19, Granados reportedly made a disturbing statement about killing their children. The complaint states that Granados instructed his wife to restrain herself with zip ties before he took their kids from the home.
Granados was arrested on December 21 after a “family violence” investigation by McAllen authorities. Police recovered the children shortly after apprehending Granados, confirmed McAllen Police Sgt. John Saenz.
The conflict began at their residence on North Broadway Avenue, reportedly due to relationship issues. Granados allegedly threatened his wife with a handgun in their bedroom, where he also produced the restraints and knife.
After Granados fled the scene, his wife called 911 reporting the incident and his chilling threats. She relayed that he expressed a willingness to harm their children, stating his life was over.
Granados faces charges that include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He remains in custody at the Hidalgo County jail with a bond set at $10,000 for the unlawful restraint charge. Additionally, no bond amount is available for the other charges against him.
