Trenton food delivery theft ends in crash and foot chase arrest

TRENTON, N.J. – A food delivery driver’s vehicle was stolen just after midnight on New Year’s Day, sparking a brief police pursuit that ended with a crash and the suspect in custody, authorities said.

According to Trenton Police, officers were called to 20 Furman Street at 12:13 a.m. after receiving a report of a theft in progress. The victim told officers that while delivering food near Hills Place, an unidentified man stole his running vehicle and fled the scene.

About twenty minutes later, Officers Paul Santos and Jovanni Romero spotted the stolen car near Oakland Street and Hoffman Avenue. When they attempted to pull it over, the driver refused to stop, leading officers on a short pursuit through the Roger Gardens area. The chase ended when the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked car.

Police said the suspect, identified as Rashaun Walker, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase. He was taken to Trenton Police Headquarters and charged in connection with the theft and pursuit.

No injuries were reported. The stolen vehicle was towed from the scene, and the victim was issued a summons for leaving the car running unattended.
