Gunman Ramon Luis Acevedo Called 911 After Shooting Two Killing Woman and Injuring Child In Their New Jersey Home

WOODBURY, N.J. – A Paulsboro man has been charged with murder after a shooting early Saturday left one woman dead and a minor wounded, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

Ramon Luis Acevedo, 40, was arrested and charged by complaint with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Police said the Paulsboro Police Department responded to a 911 call from a home on Elizabeth Avenue reporting that a woman had been shot in the head and another victim had fled the residence after being wounded. During the call, Acevedo identified himself to dispatchers and admitted to shooting both victims.

When officers arrived, they found an adult female deceased in a bedroom. The second victim, a minor, was located and transported to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

According to court documents, Acevedo told investigators he intentionally shot the first victim and accidentally shot the second after being startled while still holding the handgun.

If convicted, Acevedo faces a potential sentence of 30 years to life for murder, and between 5 and 10 years each for the assault and weapons charges.

Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns credited the Major Crimes Unit and Paulsboro Police Department for their swift response and assistance in the investigation.
