Jersey City deli customer hits $3 million lottery jackpot

Jersey City deli sells $3 million winning ticket as 20 New Jersey Lottery players strike big

TRENTON, NJ — A lucky lottery player became a multimillionaire overnight after purchasing a $3 million winning Win For Life! ticket at a Jersey City deli, one of 20 New Jersey Lottery players who claimed prizes of $10,000 or more between December 29 and Saturday.

The largest prize of the week came from the January 1 drawing of Win For Life!, where a single ticket sold at 502 Grocery & Deli on Ocean Avenue in Jersey City turned out to be worth a life-changing $3 million. It was the only seven-figure win during the stretch, according to lottery officials.

Other major prizes included a $347,433 Jersey Cash 5 ticket sold at ACME #780 in Wall Township and two $250,000 wins — one from a Crossword ticket bought in Newark and another from the January 2 Crossword game purchased at ACME #292 in Little Silver.

Players also claimed two $200,000 wins from Merry Money Tree tickets sold at Wawa #433 in Somers Point and 7-Eleven #11036 in Oakhurst. Additional five-figure wins included a $184,057 Fast Play: Blast Off to Cash ticket sold at Super G Shop #811 in Toms River and a $50,000 Mega Millions ticket purchased at 7-Eleven #11436 in Springfield.

Scratch-Off winners were scattered throughout the state, with $50,000 tickets sold in Matawan, South River, and Morristown. Smaller yet still significant wins of $10,000 came from various games including 20X Cash Blitz, Emerald 5X, and Lion’s Share in towns like Fair Lawn, New Egypt, and Rutherford.

In all, the prize-winning tickets were sold at supermarkets, convenience stores, liquor stores, and other retailers spanning 11 counties across New Jersey.
