TRENTON, NJ – A Mega Millions ticket bought in Middlesex County turned a routine $10,000 win into a six-figure payday after hitting the game’s maximum 10X multiplier during Friday’s drawing — the biggest multiplier win in New Jersey since the rule change last spring.
The lucky ticket matched four of the five white balls plus the Mega ball, qualifying for a $10,000 prize. But thanks to the 10X multiplier, the total winnings jumped to $100,000. The ticket was purchased at Jersey Pride Food Store, located at 19 Route 516 in Old Bridge.
The winning numbers were 02, 22, 33, 42, and 67. The Mega ball was 01. No ticket matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, which now rises to $250 million for Tuesday’s drawing.
The Mega Millions multiplier feature was added in April through a rule change that gives players a random multiplier — 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X — for non-jackpot prizes. Friday’s 10X win marks the highest multiplier hit in the Garden State under the new system.
Other notable multiplier wins in New Jersey include a Bergen County player who matched five white balls in June and hit the 4X multiplier to claim $4 million, and an Ocean County player in October who won $3 million with a 3X multiplier.
