Felon busted in bensalem after trying to sell guns and meth to undercover cops

BENSALEM, PA – A 68-year-old convicted felon is behind bars after allegedly attempting to sell multiple firearms and methamphetamine to undercover officers in a sting operation led by the Bensalem Township Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU).

Police say Charles Bowers of Craig Avenue was the target of an investigation launched January 29 after authorities received a tip that he was attempting to traffic both weapons and narcotics. Detectives soon learned Bowers was legally prohibited from possessing firearms due to prior felony convictions.

On February 2, SIU officers arranged an undercover purchase involving two shotguns, a rifle, and methamphetamine. The transaction took place at Bowers’ residence, where he allegedly sold the items to an undercover officer. Once the deal was complete, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with several felony offenses.

Later that same day, officers spotted Bowers driving a red Cadillac in the 2300 block of Bristol Road. After conducting a traffic stop, they took him into custody without incident and recovered additional suspected methamphetamine from his person during a search.

Bowers was arraigned before District Justice Charles Jonas and remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $750,000 bail.
