Nursing student hits $130,000 Rolling Cash 5 jackpot just before drawing cutoff
BEDFORD, OH – A Bedford nursing student bought a Rolling Cash 5 ticket minutes before the evening drawing cutoff on Valentine’s Day and ended up matching all five numbers to win a $130,000 jackpot.
The winner purchased her ticket at 6:51 p.m. at Walmart Supercenter #3250, located at 7235 Market Place Drive in Bainbridge, just before the 7:00 p.m. drawing deadline.
She had initially planned to visit the store the following day but decided to go earlier after waking up from a nap. Using $1 she had won on a scratch-off ticket, she purchased the Rolling Cash 5 entry with an auto-pick selection.
When she returned home, she checked her numbers against the winning combination of 4-8-11-21-23 and discovered she had matched all five to secure the $130,000 jackpot.
After 26.75% in state and federal taxes, she will receive $95,225.
The winner said she plans to use the money to pay off debt, purchase a new vehicle and add to her savings. She also intends to reduce her work hours to focus on completing nursing school.
Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education.
