Green Bay, WI – Schreiber Foods, Inc. has issued a voluntary recall of 144 cases of cream cheese distributed to Einstein Bros. Bagels locations after discovering a labeling error that could pose serious health risks to consumers with nut allergies.
The recall, announced Friday and published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration the following day, involves Honey Almond Cream Cheese Spread that may contain undeclared almonds. Officials warn that individuals with almond allergies or sensitivities could face severe or life-threatening reactions if the product is consumed.
The affected items were shipped to stores in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Wyoming.

Labeling error led to allergen risk
According to the company, the issue was traced to mismatched packaging during production. The lid correctly identified the product as Honey Almond cream cheese, but the cup was labeled as plain, which does not typically contain nuts.
“This voluntary recall was initiated after shipment of product with mismatched lid and cup was discovered,” the company said. “The lid correctly identifies the product as Honey Almond, but the cup incorrectly identifies the product as Plain.”
The recalled product comes in a 6-ounce plastic container labeled under the Einstein Bros. Bagels brand and carries a “Best If Used By Jul 21, 2026 LO” lot code printed on the bottom.
Consumers urged to return affected product
Schreiber Foods said the issue was limited to a specific batch and has since been corrected. No other products are believed to be affected.
“No illnesses have been reported to date,” the company said.
Consumers who purchased the recalled cream cheese are advised to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can be directed through the Einstein Bros. Bagels website.
