CUMBERLAND, MD – A series of arrests across Cumberland on Wednesday ranged from a bench warrant pickup tied to burglary-related charges to an alleged assault involving a 92-year-old victim, alongside multiple citations issued during targeted patrols near a downtown attraction. Police outlined the incidents in a Thursday press release detailing charges, locations, and outcomes from a day of enforcement activity.
Officers first arrested Jamar Cordelle Peck, 28, of Cumberland, on an active bench warrant issued by Allegany County District Court. The warrant stemmed from a missed court appearance tied to earlier charges, while additional allegations surfaced from a separate April 1 incident at a Greene Street business.
Warrant arrest tied to missed court date and theft allegation
“On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Jamar Cordelle Peck, 28, of Cumberland, MD,” the department said. “Peck was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on March 30, 2026.”
According to the release, “The warrant alleges Peck failed to appear in court on that date for previous charges, including burglary, destruction of property, trespassing, and disorderly conduct.” Following his arrest, Peck “appeared before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance and was released on a $3,000 unsecured bond.”
Police said Peck also received additional charges at the time of arrest. “A Criminal Citation was issued when Peck was found to be in possession of suspected CDS paraphernalia,” the department stated. Authorities added that a criminal summons was served in connection with an earlier incident: “The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on April 1, at a business in the 200 block of Greene St.”
During that incident, “Peck allegedly entered the business, from which he had previously been trespassed, and took items without attempting to pay for it,” according to the release.
Elderly victim reports assault inside residence
In a separate case, officers responded to a reported assault at a home on Cole Street involving a family member and an elderly victim. “On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 200 block of Cole St for a report of an assault,” police said.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a 92-year-old individual. “Officers contacted a 92-year-old victim who alleged that they had been assaulted in their home by another family member,” the release stated. Police reported visible injuries, noting, “Officers observed the victim to have signs of injury to the hand and leg.”
Following the investigation, Sharon Linn McLuckie, 67, was arrested. “McLuckie was transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Allegany County Detention Center, where she awaits an Initial Appearance with a District Court Commissioner,” police said. She faces charges of second-degree assault and vulnerable adult abuse involving a family member.
Patrols near railway lead to multiple citations
Additional enforcement unfolded near the Western Maryland Scenic Railway, where officers conducted focused patrols. “On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department Community Policing Unit conducted increased patrols in the area of the Western Maryland Scenic Railway and surrounding areas,” the department said.
Police reported that “numerous violations were observed that resulted in the issuance of Criminal and Civil Citations.” Those cited were released pending court proceedings. “For each offense, the subjects were issued their respective citation and released, pending trial in District Court,” according to the release.
Individuals cited or arrested during the patrols included Eric Ralph Jerman, Todd Jones, Jonathan Patrick Chamberlain, and Anthony Vincent Russo on trespassing charges. Misty Dawn Dye and Dominique Christopher Bell were cited for smoking cannabis in public, while Mahdi Amine Es-Sai and Tracy Curry Turner were cited for possession or consumption of alcohol in public.
