Winning tickets in Bronx and Brooklyn deliver big Powerball payouts

Twin $50K Powerball tickets sold in Bronx and Brooklyn spark double win

New York, NY — Two lottery players in different corners of New York City matched winning numbers in the same drawing, each landing a $50,000 Powerball prize from tickets sold in the Bronx and Brooklyn.

The New York Lottery confirmed the third-prize-winning tickets were sold at Bartow Total Liquors, located at 2057 Bartow Avenue in the Bronx, and Leonardo Mini-Market Corp, located at 349 Ridgewood Avenue in Brooklyn. Each ticket is worth $50,000 from the April 11 Powerball drawing.

Both winners matched four of the five white balls plus the Powerball number to secure the third-tier prize.

Powerball numbers are drawn from a pool of one through 69, while the red Powerball is selected separately from a field of one through 26. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.

Officials did not release details about the ticket holders.

The New York Lottery reported it contributed $3.6 billion during the fiscal year to support public schools across the state, maintaining its status as the largest lottery system in North America.
