World Cup 2026: $80 Shuttle Tickets, $150 Train Fares, $225 Parking Highlight High Cost of Getting to New York New Jersey Stadium Matches

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Fans planning to attend FIFA World Cup 2026 matches at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford are facing steep transportation costs, with official shuttle tickets priced at $80 and limited parking options reaching as high as $225, according to newly released details from the New York/New Jersey Host Committee and NJ Transit.

Some are saying the entire system is price gouging.

The pricing reflects a broader shift in how major events will be handled during the tournament, as organizers confirmed there will be no general public parking available at the stadium on matchdays. Instead, access will be restricted to pre-approved transportation methods, including official shuttle buses, NJ Transit rail service, rideshare, and a limited number of premium parking passes at nearby locations.

One of the most widely available options is the official stadium shuttle service, which provides round-trip transportation from key locations in New York and New Jersey. Tickets for the shuttle are priced at $80 and must be purchased in advance. Organizers say the service is designed to provide a direct, one-seat ride to the stadium in an effort to reduce congestion and streamline access for tens of thousands of attendees.

Rail service through NJ Transit will serve as the primary high-capacity travel method, with officials planning to transport up to 40,000 fans per match via train. However, those tickets will cost significantly more, with round-trip rail fares set at $150 and only available through the NJ Transit mobile app. Tickets will be limited and must be purchased ahead of time, with no same-day sales permitted at stations.

For those opting to drive, parking availability will be extremely limited and significantly more expensive than typical event pricing. Premium parking passes at the American Dream complex—located just under a mile from the stadium—are being sold in advance, with some listings reaching $225. Organizers warn that traffic delays are expected and recommend early arrival for those who secure parking.

The transportation plan, developed in coordination with multiple regional agencies, is designed to handle crowds of more than 78,000 spectators per match while minimizing congestion and maintaining safety across the region. Officials are strongly encouraging fans to plan ahead, secure transportation early, and avoid relying on last-minute travel arrangements.

The first match at the New York/New Jersey venue is scheduled for June 13, 2026, when Brazil is set to face Morocco in a Group C matchup. Additional matches will take place throughout June and July, culminating in the World Cup Final on July 19.

With demand expected to be high and options tightly controlled, transportation is shaping up to be one of the most significant logistical challenges—and expenses—for fans attending matches in the region.
