Columbus, OH — A late-night encounter outside a downtown business turned violent when a man was assaulted during a conversation with staff, prompting police to release a suspect description and ask for the public’s help.

The incident occurred just before midnight on March 21 in the 400 block of North High Street. According to the Columbus Division of Police, the victim was speaking with employees at the location when an individual approached and assaulted him.

Authorities describe the suspect as a white male with longer brown hair and a brown beard. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and tan pants and is believed to stand between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 140 to 160 pounds with a smaller build.

No additional details about the victim’s condition or the circumstances leading up to the assault have been released.

Investigators are working to identify the individual and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
