Brick Township, NJ — New safety barriers installed to prevent dangerous turns are being ignored by some drivers, prompting police to issue a warning and step up enforcement.

Officials said yellow bollards were recently placed along Beaverson Boulevard to stop left turns from the Lions Head Office Park, a move aimed at reducing crashes and improving traffic flow.

Despite the installation, authorities report that some motorists are continuing to bypass the barriers and make illegal turns, creating hazardous conditions on the roadway.

Police say the area will now be actively monitored, and drivers who violate the restriction will face summonses under New Jersey traffic law for improper turning.

The violation carries two motor vehicle points along with fines.
