Investigators say a Porsche lost control, entered oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV, leaving one man dead at the scene
AMENIA, N.Y. — A two-vehicle crash in Dutchess County left an Amenia man dead after a Porsche crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with an SUV, according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m. Monday on South Amenia Road near Benson Road in the Town of Amenia.
Investigators said a 1998 Porsche Carrera driven by Scott Anderson, 54, of Amenia, was traveling eastbound when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The Porsche then crossed into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 2020 Honda Pilot.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda was transported to Vassar Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
According to the preliminary investigation, unsafe speed appears to have been a primary factor in the crash.
No charges have been filed.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit continue to investigate.
