A 34-year-old man was found fatally shot after officers rushed to a reported shooting in the early morning hours
Washington, DC — A burst of gunfire on a Southeast Washington street left a 34-year-old man dead early Sunday, launching a homicide investigation as detectives work to identify the person responsible.
Officers responded at approximately 12:30 a.m. Sunday to the 2700 block of Langston Place SE after receiving reports of a shooting, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male unconscious and not breathing with apparent gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and determined the victim showed no signs consistent with life. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later identified the victim as 34-year-old Travonn Davis of Northwest Washington.
Investigators have not released information regarding a suspect or a possible motive.

Authorities noted that a reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides committed in the District of Columbia.
