A 21-year-old man’s killing outside a Hoboken building has now ended with a murder conviction after a jury found the defendant guilty on all charges
Jersey City, NJ — A Hudson County jury has convicted a North Bergen man of murder in the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Hoboken resident, bringing a major homicide case to a close more than two years after the deadly gunfire.
Albert Morales, 35, was found guilty Tuesday of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the death of Damon Murray, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
The verdict followed a trial before Superior Court Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez.
The case stems from a shooting reported shortly after 11:30 p.m. on April 28, 2024, in the area of 320 Marshall Drive in Hoboken.
Responding officers located a crime scene outside the building after receiving reports of shots fired.
Authorities said Murray, 21, was transported by private vehicle to Jersey City Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
He was pronounced dead shortly after midnight on April 29.
Prosecutors presented the case to a Hudson County jury, which returned guilty verdicts on all charges against Morales.
Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 4.
Morales now faces the penalties associated with the convictions under New Jersey law.
