Florida man accused of threatening to murder girlfriend during attack witnessed by child

A 10-year-old boy fled his Tamarac home and called his father after witnessing an alleged violent confrontation that left his mother fearing for her life, according to Broward County investigators.

TAMARAC, FL – A Broward County man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he threatened to kill his girlfriend during a physical altercation that unfolded in front of her young son, prompting the child to run from the home in fear. The incident, reported shortly before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, led to the arrest of 45-year-old William Adam Lamkin.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Red Heart Lane after the boy’s father called 911, reporting a “suspicious incident” involving his son. The child had called him from outside a neighbor’s home, saying he believed he was being followed after fleeing the residence.

Child describes violent confrontation inside home

Investigators say the boy told deputies his mother had returned home with alcohol shortly before an argument broke out between her and Lamkin. The dispute escalated into violence, according to the affidavit.

“The child stated that his mother told him William had grabbed her by the shirt and said he was going to murder her,” deputies wrote. “The child advised that he became frightened, ran out of the residence, and called his father.”

When deputies located the woman, she initially hesitated to speak but became visibly shaken after learning her son had already described the incident. She told investigators that Lamkin had been sending her messages while she was shopping, demanding she return home.

After she arrived, Lamkin allegedly approached her vehicle, forced her back into the driver’s seat, and struck her. According to the affidavit, he told her, “I am going to ask you this question one time and one time only, and every time you give me that b— answer, I will punch you again.”

Deputies say neighbors attempted to intervene as Lamkin grew increasingly agitated and appeared to move toward them in an effort to escalate the situation.

Victim tells deputies she feared for her life

The woman told deputies that Lamkin grabbed her shirt and threatened to kill her while she was seated in the vehicle. When asked if she believed the threat was real, she responded, “Of course,” according to investigators.

The situation intensified as the boy ran from the home, prompting his mother to chase after him through the neighborhood. Investigators say she eventually saw him get into a pickup truck near a community pool.

While deputies were still at the scene, Lamkin allegedly continued calling and texting the woman, indicating he was returning. She pleaded with deputies not to leave, telling them, “He will kill me, he’s a psycho,” while also describing what she said was his history of domestic violence.

Lamkin returned to the residence but refused to cooperate with deputies, reportedly saying, “I didn’t do anything wrong so go about your business.” Investigators say he became confrontational, ignored commands, and took a fighting stance before deputies used force to take him into custody.

Lamkin was later evaluated at a hospital and booked into the Broward County Jail. He faces charges of domestic assault, domestic battery, and resisting an officer with violence. A judge set his bond at $32,500.
